Meeting the needs of children's ministries
Reach Hurting Kids Institute has been producing trauma-informed resources for children’s ministries and churches worldwide.
As their influence and number of resources grow, they have continued to reach out to me for help designing their products, marketing materials, and brand identity.
These projects have ranged from an audiobook cover design to pop-up exhibits, from post cards to infographic PDFs. Together, these projects tell the story of children who need to be seen, valued, connected, and loved—and the ministry workers who need the resources to meet those needs.
Digital Resources
Beginner's Guide PDF
The Beginner's Guide to Trauma-Informed Children's Ministry was funded by the Tim Tebow foundation as a free resource on their website.
The constraints were not easy, however: the PDF had to work on a computer screen as well as on paper, in case the reader decided to print it out. The complex hierarchy called for customized icons, a strict color and typography system, and a flexible grid.

Exhibit Design
RHK frequents several large church and ministry conferences, which drives a subtantial percentage of their customer base. To catch more eyes at the conferences, RHK requested a new pop-up exhibit setup and design. I proposed and developed a flexible 3-banner arrangement using designs inspired by the Beginner's Guide PDF.
The Bear
Supplementary banners on the sides held some of their key research in simple graph forms as well as advertisements for their biggest products. The true eye-catcher is a teddy bear on the central banner, representing the trauma 2/3rds of children have faced in their lives.
